Ten Year Leases Will Soon Be Permissible
Governor Brewer has signed House Bill 2202, which extends the maximum number of years that school district leases or lease-purchase agreements can last without voter approval from 5 years to 10 years. She signed the bill on April 11, 2013. It will be effective 90 days after the close of the legislative session, the date of which is not yet set. You should consider whether a longer-term would benefit your district as you enter into or renew these types of agreements.
