School Bathrooms: Yours, Mine or Ours?

July 14, 2016 By Robert D. Haws In Legal Alerts

Last week, the plaintiffs in the case Texas v. United States (which include the Arizona Department of Education and an Arizona school district) filed a motion for preliminary injunction seeking to enjoin the US Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights and the Department of Justice from enforcing their recent directives that public schools must open up their bathrooms, locker rooms and other facilities to both sexes.

The court has yet to rule on the plaintiffs’ motion, but if the motion is granted it could delay enforcement of the directives. The court is expected to rule on the motion in early August.
