She has focused her practice on creditors’ rights and related state and federal court litigation, including commercial and consumer bankruptcy, loan workouts, foreclosure, replevin, deficiency, and guarantor actions.

“While we regret losing Madeleine as a colleague, partner, mentor, and Executive Committee member, she will be a tremendous addition to the bench,” said Sean P. O’Brien, Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy Restructuring and Creditors’ Group at the firm. “She brings outstanding professional expertise, practicality, and credentials to the bench. She was a Founding Master of the Arizona Bankruptcy American Inn of Court, and Bankruptcy Section Chair of the State Bar of Arizona. Madeleine has published extensively and speaks frequently as a certified specialist on bankruptcy.”

Wanslee served as a member of the Executive Committee of Gust Rosenfeld and Co- Chair of the Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group. She is recognized in the Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law category of the Best Lawyers in America® and in the Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights category of Southwest Super Lawyers.® Wanslee has been Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification, an American Bar Association-accredited program since 1999. She handled numerous bankruptcy appeals and argued a matter before the United States Supreme Court.

Madeleine Wanslee is a graduate of the University of Arizona and received her J.D. from the Gonzaga University School of Law where she was Executive Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review. While attending law school, she worked for a small bankruptcy firm in Spokane, Washington, where she was introduced to the bankruptcy practice area. “I have thoroughly enjoyed practicing law in this field with my colleagues at Gust Rosenfeld and very much appreciate the support I have received from my firm in my 23 years here. I am honored to be appointed to the bankruptcy bench and I look forward to serving the public as a judge.”
